One person was injured and the roofs of about four houses and some warehouses were badly damaged when a waterspout struck Sh. Lhaimagu on Saturday morning, 7 November, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said.

In a post on X, NDMA said the injured person suffered a head wound after being struck by a flying sheet of roofing tin, and is receiving treatment. The island council is carrying out a damage assessment, the authority added.

Council's account

According to the island council, the waterspout arrived at around 07:30, travelling from north to south.
