Housing ministry offers 48 Malé state land plots at MVR 2,000 per sq ft

Forty-eight small plots of state land in Malé go on sale on Sunday 8 November 2026, the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development said in a notice issued on 5 November.

The sale, announced in notice No. (IUL)491/491/2026/178, is part of the Veshifahi Malé Programme. Applications must reach the ministry by 14:00 on Tuesday 8 December 2026.

A flat rate for every plot

Every listed plot is priced at MVR 2,000 per square foot. On that basis, 100 sq ft would cost MVR 200,000.

Where the plots are

The plots vary from 21.6 sq ft to 275.21 sq ft. The ministry grouped them by area:

  • Maafannu: 21 plots
  • Machchangolhi: 10 plots
  • Henveiru: 9 plots
  • Galolhu: 7 plots
  • Villingili: 1 plot

Plot numbers, addresses and sizes are set out in full in the notice. Some addresses appear more than once, split into separate parts with different sizes, so applicants should confirm which part they are applying for.

Eligibility

Only two groups may buy: co-owners of the plots in which the listed land sits, and owners of neighbouring plots. The sale is governed by the Veshifahi Malé Programme rules on selling state land, gazetted on 28 June 2021.

Applying

  • Download the application form and the chart of available plots from infrastructure.gov.mv, or pick them up at the ministry's reception, from 8 November.
  • Complete the form prescribed in the sales rules.
  • Include every document the rules list.
  • Hand in the application before 14:00 on Tuesday 8 December 2026.

Questions or complaints about the listed plots can be raised by calling the ministry on 400 4900 or visiting during office hours.
